What we do

Promotes and protects the rights, views and interests of children within its statutory remit.

The Children’s Commissioner promotes awareness of children’s rights, listens to children and young people, brings their views to decision-makers and scrutinises how public services affect them.

The Commissioner is independent in exercising statutory functions. The Office is not a substitute for emergency services, safeguarding authorities, courts or the complaints procedures of the service responsible for an individual case.
